Make sure that you fully understand the operation of your jet ski before you get into the water. And always make sure you wear your life preserver even if you are an awesome swimmer.

Some beaches are more dangerous than others at all times of year. The choppiness of the water and the strength of the undertow for any particular day can make riding a jet ski very dangerous. Always check with the rental location about conditions before renting.

Age of the riders. Again related to safety make sure you consider the age of the jet ski riders before renting a jet ski. Many rental locations will have strict rules concerning rider age.

Number of personal watercrafts already out. If you are going to be going out into crowded water, then you will not have a lot of room to maneuver. Crowded conditions can also lead to serious accidents. Dont go out if there are too many riders already out.

What happens if your jet ski breaks down? Check with the policy of the rental company because each one is different. They should extend your time if you lose time due to a broken down jet ski.

Health Insurance. Namely, do you have it? If you get injured in a jet ski accident, you may have expensive medical bills. Just something to consider.

Whether youve been drinking. Many jet ski accidents occur because the rider has been drinking. Wait until youve sobered up before getting on a jet ski.

Location of place rented. You can save money by renting a jet ski away from the water and transporting it yourself but this leads to more headaches for you. Therefore, this is something to think about whether it makes more sense to pay more and be right at the beach or have to transport it yourself to the water.

Cost. How much does the company charge? Each company is different and a short walk down the beach could get you a cheaper price.

Time allotted. Again, companies vary with the amount of time they allow you to take the jet ski out for the price. Therefore, shop around before buying.
