1937 Gar Wood Triple Cockpit
1937 Gar Wood 25? Triple Cockpit Runabout, model “737”. “Sierra Sue”, Hull #6110 was built in Marysville, Michigan. Out of a total of only 28 ever built, she is #19 and was shipped on July 2, 1937 to Gladd Brothers in Saranac Lake, New York. Her original Engine is # 1818, a Chrysler Majestic straight “8” – 152 horse power. She was re-powered in 2000 with a new Volvo Penta “454” V8 engine. Her original Chrysler Majestic engine is available. Current owners have enjoyed “Sierra Sue” since 1995. She underwent a complete restoration in 1998-99 by Dave Wright in Southern California and won best “Gar Wood” and “Best of Show” at the 1999 Concours d’Elegance at Lake Tahoe.
